Perspectives 2013 honoured independent filmmakers. Opening with the Singapore premiere of Mostofa Sawar Farooki’s critically acclaimed Television (2012), the festival presented a rare 35mm screening of The Boys from Fengkuei (1983) by Taiwanese New Wave director Hou Hsiao-Hsien. For the first time, Perspectives also held ancillary events beyond the screen, with a masterclass and showcase / dialogue with Akanga Film Asia featuring K Rajagopal (A Yellow Bird, 2016).
